In November 2009, Ben and I purchased a Pioneer Argyle SE off-road camper-trailer to enhance our outback camping experience.
Not being able to wait for our first outing, we set her up in the backyard the night we brought her home and had our own little campout under the stars of Denman. I slept great that night blissfuly dreaming of all the fantastic Aussies adventures yet to come.
We have officially named our new camper-trailer "Tilly" in honor of the border collie we had in Corcoran. It was with much regret, many tears and heavy hearts that we had to leave our little hound behind when we decided to move "down-under" in 2005. Of course she was immediately adopted by a great family that loved her as much as we did - thanks N8!
In Memory... all good dogs do go to heaven so I know she's watching over us now.
We miss you Matilda!
"Luxy" & "Tilly" all packed up and ready to go
Friday, February 26th, was the inaugral outing for "Tilly" to Patonga Beach on the Central Coast of New South Wales with our friends Adam and Vanessa and their two children Maddison and Nicholas.
The beauty of these travel units is the ease of set-up. In less than 5 minutes, our getaway-on-wheels was erected and ready for camping.
Viola! - erection complete
Of course learning how to attach the awning for the first time was a little bit tricky, but with practice, we'll master it in no time at all. Before our next trip though, I'm sure Ben will have created a special tool just to make this task an effortless job. Why?.....because he and Adam are both "ideas men" and "Master Fabricators" !
Having a roll-out stovetop and sink, my kitchen set up is super functional with the dining table and fridge all within arms reach. Makes it easy to whip up a meal and a cocktail all at the same time! Yeah baby!
Mimosas in the morning! Cheers!
Group "brekky" (breakfast) with Lulu's famous french toast on offer.
The in-laws even joined us for an overnight stay and slept out in the "swag"!"swag" = canvas-covered bedroll used in the outback
Great fun, fabulous food and wonderful friends. The weekend was a hit with plenty of swimming, eating, drinking, relaxing and even a little fishing. Adam and Nick patiently waiting for a bite.
Nick still waiting........
Maddi on a mission to out-fish her dad and brother... Alas, the only successful fishermen that day were the pelicans......
